Piazza San Pietro - Saint Peter's Square – is a beautiful square in Rome, Italy located in front of St. Peter's Basilica, in Vatican City. In this inspiring site is where the Pope usually celebrates solemn liturgies and public hearings.

This famous construction in Rome was created by Gian Lorenzo Bernini between 1656 and 1657 - Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini (1598 – 1680), a great Italian Baroque sculptor and architect. It’s an oval square surrounded by impressive columns with 140 saints' figures from all times and places. Bernini gave order to the space with his famous colonnades that actually define the Piazza San Pietro. The square only has two sides without columns – one comes from Pio XII Square and Via della Conciliazione and the other one is the site of the extraordinary St Peter’s Basilica.
